Medicine is a very vast field. Human anatomy is complex and each organ needs a detailed study and specialization, which is why the medical field has divided into so many sub-categories that pre-medical students choose to study based on their interests.

Oncology

Oncology is not related to an organ but rather it is a non-surgical way of preventing and managing a manifesting disease. They use radiotherapy, drugs, and systematic therapy to counter the manifesting disease through various tools. Within oncology, there are two kinds, one is clinical oncology that is related to therapies that are non-surgical to treat the tumor through teamwork and good management, while the second is medical oncology uses drugs that are made through extensive research and experiments to treat the patient.

Oncology has been developed and advanced to new therapies for the last ten years because of its potential in the treatment and prevention of cancer.

Oncology is a very interesting field of specialization that many medical students opt for because of their interests in cancer. Oncology is a way to treat cancer, and since cancer has become a very common disease, so this field has a lot of scope.

Oncology is not a single person’s work, instead, the oncologists work in teams to treat the patient with precise procedures. It is kind of an interdisciplinary field that requires teamwork.

Study Requirements

Many programs are introduced by universities and research centers to train aspiring medical students to become professional oncologists. There are laboratory-based or clinical-based research programs available for study to have in-depth knowledge about treatment and prevention of cancer-like diseases.

Career Opportunities

As said before, oncologists are important in today’s world because malignant diseases like cancer are becoming more and more common among local populations. Furthermore, since the treatments are rarely cheap, the medical sector needs oncologists to study and find solutions in giving local people the treatment that they deserve at a low cost.

There are many researchers going on, and it is always thrilling to contribute to those researches and treating patients who have hope to be cured. Oncology is not just a medical field, instead, it also helps in developing good communication skills, interaction skills, team-building.
